Aalto University

Established in 2010, Aalto University resulted from the merger of three of Finland’s top universities:  The Helsinki School of Economics, Helsinki University of Technology and The University of Art and Design Helsinki. The three schools of the Aalto University are all leading and renowned institutions in their respective fields and in their own right, and bring centuries of experience to the new university.

Aalto University is fostering a student-centered culture, one which encourages its students to engage passionately with the problems society faces from multiple academic disciplines. The new university will provide high-quality research and education and create an internationally attractive environment for both learning and research.  Aalto's ambitious goal is to be one of the leading institutions in the world in terms of research and education in its own specialized disciplines by 2020.

Aalto University will focus its research on a number of global issues, fi.e climate change, sustainable development and communications technology. New research environments often evolve into larger research programmes or units through themes that require a inter-disciplinary approach.

Aalto University School of Science and Technology campus is located in Otaniemi co-location right next to core partners VTT and Nokia.
