Achievements & wishes for Industrial Post-Doc My research topic is wireless sensor networks, which has tremendous market opportunities, and in which there is much room for new, innovative ideas. Currently I participate in the development of a customizable wireless sensor network solution for the following application areas: smart metering, environmental-, medical- and production-monitoring and the intelligent home. This research area is currently very popular, but the challenges of energy efficiency, auto-discovery, adaptive routing and automatic fault correction in machine-to-machine networks need better solutions. In my research I mainly concentrate on the energy efficiency of wireless sensor networks to create more efficient protocols and achieve longer battery life in the sensor nodes. I also focus on radio technologies, and I would like to create an indoor and an outdoor radio propagation model for the 433 MHz ISM band. Personally I have always wanted to extend my knowledge in marketization and in the business world. By joining the EIT Digital Doctoral School on ICT Innovation, I believe, will further improve my Innovation and Entrepreneurship mind-set and, in the long-run, and it will help me become a commercially aware research leader or entrepreneur who understands current and future challenges as well as the opportunities in the industry.

Achievements & wishes for Industrial Post-Doc During my Master's studies I worked for 2 years at Intel Labs, Saint-Petersburg, where I specialized in the development of state-of-the-art algorithms for video and stereo processing, and low-cost hand gesture tracking systems. This first work experience within an R&D company raised my interest in working with advanced algorithms for companies' specific business needs.

Within the framework of my PhD studies I have been working in the area of Image Processing and Computer Vision for Spatial Augmented Reality. I have been developing a system for unintrusive geometric and color compensation for projector-camera systems.

Having research work background both in academics and industry, I decided to get involved in the EIT Digital doctoral program, which has already provided me with a number of opportunities, such as entrepreneurship courses and trainings, international mobility and valuable business connections. My wish for my next career step is to work at a large IT company, SME or in a startup in my research area. I would like to take part in a challenging project that would require state-of-the-art research, prototype development and collaboration with academic and research institutions, and production units.

Achievements & wishes for Industrial Post-Doc I am currently completing my Phd in information security and privacy at Telecom Bretagne in France. My thesis research allows me to deepen the theoretical and practical knowledge that i had acquired at University of Limoges during my master of Computer Sciences Security and Cryptography. I have developed during these last three years rigor, perseverance and creativity : necessary qualities to a researcher. The geographic mobility program of the EIT Digital Doctoral School allowed me to discover the world of the industry through a long-period duration internship that I have performed in SAP AG Karlsruhe In Germany. This experience have convinced me that my relational and scientific capabilities can be better exploited in an industrial environment. Curious and enthusiastic, I want to be able to work in an environment favoring the exchanges and involving me in projects with a defined objective.

Achievements & wishes for Industrial Post-Doc I have been actively working on solutions that can make the lives of the senior citizens a little bit better. During the course of my PhD, I participated in several EIT doctoral school trainings and summer schools to learn the grounds of entrepreneurship. Alongside, I have been working on an EIT funded activity (Virtual social Gym) where we try to implement and study a virtual gym for healthy senior citizens at home. FUTURE: I am very passionate about innovation in general. I love to connect things, discover new ways and build real stuff. I spend a lot of time programming (web and mobile tech) because I love to build stuff that works. I am also very passionate and interested in presenting things, making connection between people, companies, ideas and disciplines.

Achievements & wishes for Industrial Post-Doc My major research interests are in computer vision, machine learning, multimedia retrieval and human computer interaction. For the moment I work on object recognition and video classification tasks. Achievements & wishes for Industrial Post-Doc In 2014, I have visited Orange Lab, Paris and Ericsson Eurolab, Aachen as part of my Geomobility program. This experience not only exposed me to a wider scope of interesting research subjects, but also allows me to gain more insight into the ecosystem of the telecom market-- the interactions among the major players and the differences in their innovation strategies. I also come to realize that, although innovations in the core wireless technologies require significant resources and standardization efforts that are only affordable for the established players, there are still niche services with a maturing technology waiting for a disruptive business model to take off. I hope the I&E Education could sharpen my sense for finding these opportunities and enhance my business competence. Passionate in bringing my knowledge in radio resource management and wireless broadcasting into building an innovative service or product, I am eagerly looking for the prospect to be part of a young, dynamic company developing new wireless service, especially in the area of mobile video services.

Achievements & wishes for Industrial Post-Doc During my master, I have worked on projects related to robotics (ranked 2nd in French robotic cup and 5th during the international competition) as well as on video games or security (ID-based cryptography for DNS updates). As an intern at Cisco I worked as presale engineer on the technology "EnergyWise", and devloped its wireshark plugin. My PhD has been the occasion to study more in details the use of multipath technologies in the networks. I have looked at ways to improve it from different perspective such as algorithmic design (for congestion control), crosslayer design (sharing information leading to a better decision). I am curious about many areas and wishes to explore them, such as model checking, theorem proving, text processing, image recognition, anything related to robotics and of course networking.

Achievements & wishes for Industrial Post-Doc I am Tewodros Deneke. Since May 2012 i am pursuing my PHD at Embedded Systems Laboratory at Åbo Akademi University, Finland. Before that i have done my Masters in Embedded Systems at the same University and my Bachelors in Electrical Engineering at Bahir Dar University, Ethiopia. I am currently working on a new distributed video transcoding approach(platform) where i evaluate the capabilities of a set of heterogeneous processing nodes and develop transcoding time prediction models for efficient load balancing and other proactive resource management approaches. My project work is being done within Cloud Software Finland and ParalleX research projects, where i actively cooperate with PacketVideo Finland, F-Secure and Ericsson. Achievements & wishes for Industrial Post-Doc From my PhD study of Internet measurement, I have acquired essential knowledge about network design, as well as the ability of analytic thinking, in the domain of both access and data center network. The training I received from ICT Labs, at the same time, gives me a peak into the business and financial side of an industrial operation. I hope that I could participate in an industrial research environment in the field of Internet-based product, bring my business and technical knowledge, and also have a real-life experience and knowledge of how to apply them.
